Growing up, I was told that there are a few distant characteristics of a true friend.
One of these characteristics, I truly believe in. I believe in the characteristic of a friend that possesses an instant connection with me. But what’s even more powerful than the instant connection, is an instant connection that never goes away. I’ve noticed that in life, there are times when people have to move away, and times when they just get busy. But a TRUE friend is one who always picks up right where we left off. And so does that connection.
I whole heartedly love these people in my life. And lately, I’ve been especially thankful to have met clients that I feel this same instant connection with. It’s the craziest thing how in life there are those people that you come across and never forget. It’s those people that live the biggest mark on my heart, and that when I’m with, make me feel like I don’t have to say a word because they already know what I’m thinking.
I used to have a hard time understanding the that these people exist in my life, and that I may not see them everyday. However, I have learned to treasure them and to remember this connection. It’s almost like a secret connection, an unbreakable and invisible wire, that always keeps us connected. No matter where we are, or what we’re doing….and when we meet up, we’ll pick up where we left off.
My friend Annika has been living in Texas since we finished undergrad. It’s been hard, and I missed her…but now she’s moving home again. We hung out this past weekend and I realized that we picked up where we left off. She once again, confirmed the power of our friendship. 🙂
This is my friend Ryan, taken last year during Mardi Gras. I miss her. Lots!! …looking forward hopefully seeing her again soon!
Thank you to all of you in my life that I love so much. I am thankful for our friendships and for that connection.
